Wolves Win: 5.00 - 0.00
TIMBERLINE vs MADISON.  On Friday, the Wolves welcomed the Madison Bobcats to town with an offensive onslaught, resulting in Timberline’s highest scoring match so far in the season.  Early in the 9th minute, Dominque Salinas scored the ball after a great cross by Zayne Davis.  Zayne then stole the ball and beat the Bobcat defenders for a goal at 20’.  The Wolves’ total domination continued with three more goals in a span of just ten minutes: Jerry Moreno scoring at 35’, Beltran Espasandin with a goal at 37’, and Jack Buehler with a steal and bullet into the upper net at 43’.  There would be no answer from the Bobcats.  Final: Timberline 5, Madison 0.

Wolves Win: 3.00 - 2.00
TIMBERLINE vs CENTENNIAL.  The Wolves traveled across town to face the Centennial Patriots for their first away game of the season.   It was a bit of back-and-forth for the first twenty minutes, while the Wolves adjusted their playing style to Centennial’s smaller-than-average pitch.   However Timberline would not remain scoreless for long.  In the 27th minute, Centennial resorted to fouling a Timberline attacker just outside the box,  earning Timberline a free kick and Centennial a yellow card.  Quintin Boggs took the free kick and crossed the ball across the goal to Jake Anderson who headed it to Jeremiah Moreno, who tapped the ball in for the first goal of the match.  Just four minutes later, Zayne Davis took a shot on goal that was dropped by the keeper;  Zach Taylor recovered the ball and shot it into the net to put the Wolves up 2-0.  The Patriots started the second half with high energy and put themselves on the board just three minutes in.  At 55’, Quinton Boggs fired a deep shot that bounced off the crossbar, which Zach Taylor headed in for another goal, putting the Wolves up 3-1.   Centennial was gifted with an own goal by Timberline at 70’, after an unfortunate pair of defensive deflections.  Final: Timberline 3, Centennial 2.

TIMBERLINE vs CAPITAL.  The first match of the regular season was off to a slow start, and the Wolves were unable to convert any of their scoring opportunities in the first half.  It was a physical match, with players from both teams suffering injury. In the 58th minute, Kyle Atkinson drove the ball past the keeper into the bottom left corner of the net for the only goal of the match.  Ben Anderson saved Capital’s two shots on goal for a shut-out.  Final: Timberline 1, Capital 0.

Wolves Lose: 0.00 - 0.00
The Wolves hosted the Borah Lions at home for their second pre-season match.  While the Wolves controlled the majority of the game, they found themselves unlucky at finishing. Timberline’s offense churned out twenty-nine shots, ten of which were on frame, and it seemed only a matter of time until one would convert to a goal.  Unfortunately at 44’, a late and questionable off-sides decision called back the only Timberline shot that found its way to the back of the net.  The Wolves defense held Borah to just two shots on goal, with one dangerous attack in the box at the 32’ mark stopped through the combined efforts of Ben Anderson and Jack Buehler.  The match ended in a 0-0 tie.  The Wolves will play the Lions again in a regular season match on October 4th.

Wolves Win: 3.00 - 0.00
The Wolves’ 2022 season opener was an exciting matchup of the 2021 5A and 4A State Champions.  Despite a ninety minute lightning delay, there was an incredible student section turn-out.  The first ten minutes of play were competitive with the Wolves holding off several attacks by BK, including an incredible diving save by Parker Gropp at the 10’ mark.  The Wolves then settled in and began dominating possession and control of the game, starting with a steal by Zach Taylor who drove upfield and passed to Zayne Davis who chipped it over to Jeremiah Moreno for the opening goal at 14’.  Soon after, Jake Anderson scored off a free kick by Quinton Boggs at 18’.  During another Timberline attack, Zach Taylor took a hard foul in the box, setting up a penalty kick completed by Zayne Davis for the final score of the match at 33’.  The late game start combined with an untimely sprinkler system turn-on caused the officials to call the game early at around 50’.
